KUALA TERENGGANU: They should have been enforcing the law. Instead, they did exactly the opposite.
When police went to a house in Taman Jaya Pusara here on a routine drug raid following a tip-off early yesterday, they arrested five men high on drugs and seized 2.5g of syabu worth RM1,000.
What shocked the Narcotics Department officers from the district police headquarters was who the men were; four were auxiliary policemen while the fifth was a National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) officer.
Also arrested with the men, aged between 23 and 30, was a 23-year-old unemployed woman from Chalok in Setiu. She, however, tested negative for drugs.
A portion of the syabu was found in the pocket of the 30-year-old Nada officer, while the rest was on the floor.
State Narcotics Department chief Superintendent Roslan Abdul Wahid said of the six arrested, five were from Terengganu while the other was from Kuantan.
He said the Nada officer had a previous record for a drug offence, but declined to elaborate.
State Nada director Rojihan Ramli, when contacted, said he was leaving it to the police to investigate the alleged involvement of his officer.
