No sign of man who disappeared after going for a swim

PASIR PUTEH, Sat: A search and rescue team is scouring the Kampung Banggol Kerian river looking for a man who disappeared after he went swimming last night.

Villagers saw Mohd Mazlan Yajid diving into the river from the Tok Bali Bridge when he was swept away by strong currents.

As at presstime, there has been no sign of the 28-year-old although the water level has dipped and the weather has improved.

Pasir Puteh fire and rescue department officer Kaharuddin Yahya said today, the search and rescue team comprised villagers, 40 firemen, policemen and drainage and irrigation department personnel. -- BERNAMA
