CATCH: MPO’s Bolero at DFP

BE spellbound when the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) performs Ravel’s Bolero at 8.30pm on Nov 21 and 3pm on Nov 22 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
These concerts are under the Discovery series and will be conducted by MPO Music Director Claus Peter Flor.

The MPO will also dazzle audience with Mozart’s Overture To The Magic Flute and Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite.

The MPO will collaborate with piano virtuoso Dong-Hyek Lim to present Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 In F Minor.

Tickets: RM85, RM65, RM40 and RM20.

At 8.30pm today, the MPO presents Exploring Distant Frontiers, a contemporary music celebration featuring the works of composers Vasks, Dutilleux, Connesson and Yii Kah Hoe.

Also in the MPO repertoire are Connesson’s Supernova and Dutilleux’s Timbres, Espace, Mouvements.

The MPO will also collaborate with violinist Matthew Trusler to perform Vasks’ Concerto For Violin — Distant Light.

Mukabuku at KLPAC

THE Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre’s (KLPaC) Theatre For Young People (T4YP) project presents Mukabuku, six short plays by playwrights Mark Beau De Silva, Alex Chua and Nandang Abdul Rahman from Nov 20 to 22.

Directed by Kelvin Wong, the plays are all about online social networking sites that transform the way we stay connected to one another.

The plays star Alfred Loh, Gowry Paary, Farah Rani, Nur Zakuan, Nabihan Yaacob, Ujvar Singh, Michael Tan and Ivan Atienza.

Time: 8.30pm (Friday and Saturday). and 3pm (Saturday and Sunday).

Venue: Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPaC) in Sentul Park, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.

Tickets: RM25 and RM15 (students, senior citizens and the handicapped).
