JOHOR BARU: A man with only a licence for riding motorcycles who drove a car and caused the death of a motorcyclist was sentenced to two years' jail by the magistrate's court yesterday.
Mohd Farook Mohamed, 24, unemployed, was charged with causing the death of Veeramurugan Reganathan, 36, by reckless or dangerous driving. He pleaded guilty to committing the offence at Jalan Puteri, Taman Puteri Wangsa here, at 11.45am on July 26 last year.
Magistrate Sharifah Maleeha Syed Hussin also ordered Farook to pay a fine of RM5,000 or serve another two years' jail.
It is understood that Veeramurugan died on the spot.
