Kien Keat/Boon Heong make final, women pair shown exit
2009/11/21
KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttlers Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong, lived up to their top billing as the world number one men's doubles pair by cruising into the China Masters Super Series final in Shanghai, China today.
The top Malaysian pair who had won the All England title in 2007, disposed off Chen Hong Ling-Lin Yu Lang from Taiwan 21-15, 21-13 in just 26 minutes and meet the winner of the match between Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen of Denmark and Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae of South Korea.
It will be the pair's third Super Series final for the year as they had also made it to the Denmark Super Series and French Super Series finals last month.
Their win, more or less, helped lift the gloom surrounding the Malaysian camp after the first round exit of men's singles world number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Wong Mew Choo's quarterfinal defeat in the women's singles and the exit of Chin Eei Hui/Wong Pei Tty in the women''s doubles semifinals, earlier today.
Eei Hui-Pei Tty, ranked number three in the world, surprisingly lost tamely to China's Zhang Yawen/Tian Qing, the sixth seeds, in straight sets, 17-21, 8-21.
