Dr Ku says he's unaware of his Kedah MB candidacy

ALOR STAR: Kedah state executive councillor Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail today said he was in the dark over his possible candidacy for the state menteri besar position.

"At this juncture I haven't heard anything and I do not wish to comment. I will be doing my job as usual," said the Guar Chempedak assemblyman.

Ku Abd Rahman's name, Berita Harian had reported, was allegedly among three names submitted as candidates for Menteri Besar when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had an audience with the Kedah Council of Regency chairman at Istana Darulaman in the capital this morning.

The other two in the list are said to be state executive councillor Datuk Mohd Rawi Abdul Hamid and Bayu assemblyman Datuk Azmi Che Husain.

State Umno liaison deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah's name was not in the list, according to the source.

Calls and messages to Rawi and Azmi went unanswered, while Bashah, when contacted, said "Sorry, no comment today".

Last Wednesday, Bashah led a group of Kedah Umno leaders in declaring their loss of confidence and faith in Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir’s leadership as both the MB and state Umno chairman.

On Friday, Kedah Umno leaders held a closed-door meeting with Najib on the political situation, and presented their views.
