JOHOR BARU: Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MIM), the master developer of Medini in Iskandar Puteri, has announced the appointment of Dr James Tee as its new managing director and chief executive officer (CEO), effective today, April 10.
Tee succeeds Datuk Khairil Anwar Ahmad, who took the role of president and chief executive officer of Iskandar Investment Bhd, on Nov 1, last year.
“We are pleased to welcome Tee to MIM and we are confident that, with the broad experience he is bringing, he will further drive MIM's efforts to position Medini as the central business district of Iskandar Puteri and the south of Johor," said Jamil Hajar Abdul Muttalib, MIM's chairman.
Tee was previously the executive director of UOA Holdings Sdn Bhd and UOA Asset Management Sdn Bhd; the CEO of GLM REIT Management Sdn Bhd under the Hong Leong Group; and CEO of the Setia Awan Group.
Prior to that, he was the group chief operating officer of Kurnia Asia Bhd.
Tee graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and earned his doctorate in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
He has also served as the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian REIT Managers Association.
