KUALA LUMPUR: E-commerce platform, Lazada (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, has teamed up with AIG Malaysia Insurance Bhd to provide a convenient, accessible and seamless purchase of insurance policies for Malaysians on its platform.
The companies, in a joint statement today, said the customers who shopped on Lazada Malaysia would be able to buy travel, snatch theft and personal accident (active lifestyle care) coverage.
The statement said the premiums would be priced between RM8 and RM115.
Recognising that the population remained largely uninsured, standing at less than two per cent, it said, the partnership sought to continue expanding the reach and penetration of insurance in the country, further generating more awareness among consumers.
Lazada Malaysia Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hans-Peter Ressel, said enabling opportunities in the digital and direct channels for insurance purchase would improve transparency and enable easier product comparisons, further ensuring that customers were well-informed about the right products that suited their needs.
"This collaboration helps prepare Malaysians to take a better charge of their future,” he said.
AIG Malaysia CEO, Antony Lee, said the partnership was another milestone for the company to reach out to the under-insured segment of the market that favoured the convenience of purchasing on digital platforms.
“With some of Lazada's customers aged between 26 and 35 years – well within AIG's target customer segments – this will provide us with the chance to understand our customers’ needs and to continuously match them with the right insurance solutions,” he said.
Lazada Malaysia is wholly-owned by the Alibaba Group and AIG Malaysia is a subsidiary of American International Group, a global insurance organisation. - Bernama
