KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has appointed Salihin Abang as its new President and Datuk Narendra Kumar Jasani as the Vice President for a new term with effect on August 24, 2017.
Salihin was elected as MIA Council member on September 19, 2015. He is the founder and managing partner of SALIHIN. He is also the president of Malaysian Accounting Firms Association (MAFA).
He is a member of MIA, a member of the Association of Malay Chartered Accountants Firms (AMCAF) committee, a member of Malaysian Association of Tax Accountants (MATA), a fellow member of Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) and, an associate member of Certified Practicing Accountant (Australia).
Salihin received his Bachelor of Accounting from International Islamic University Malaysia in 1997 and obtained his Masters of Science in Accounting from the same university in 2008.
Jasani was elected as MIA Council member on 19 September 2015. He is currently the country managing partner of Grant Thornton Malaysia. He is also the Chairman of Grant Thornton Cambodia and, a Director of Grant Thornton Singapore.
Jasani has been involved in all aspects of professional practice including auditing, receivership, liquidation, consulting, corporate restructuring, privatisation and tax planning exercises.
He is the Chairman of the MIA Public Practice Committee. He is also involved in a number of Committees including Small & Medium Practice Committee (SMP), Insolvency Practice Committee (IPC) and the Integrated Reporting Steering Committee (IRSC).
Jasani established the Malaysian chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and, was the Chairman for four years. He remains actively involved as the ICAEW Past Chairman and Adviser.
He is a member of the MIA, The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and, a member of Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
