KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines Bhd group chief executive officer Peter Bellew was named Travel Personality of the Year Award at the recent TTG Travel Awards 2017.
Voted by the TTG editorial team, the 28th Annual TTG Travel Awards ceremony and gala dinner was held on September 28 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The award is part of the Outstanding Achievement category and winners for this category are handpicked by TTG’s editorial team for exceptional contributions as industry role-models.
“I am extremely honoured to have been recognised for this award. For Malaysia Airlines, these awards are huge milestones for us as we continue working hard to restore ourselves to our former glory,” Bellew said in a statement.
He said every recognition from official bodies and publications to individual online compliments from a customer, spurs Malaysia Airlines to do better.
The award is for the most, outstanding individual for taking proactive steps to develop the travel industry and for demonstrating innovation in his field.
“As with any award, individual or otherwise, the recognition is a collective one for the whole Malaysia Airlines family.
“I would like to thank my entire team of over 14,000 passionate and committed individuals who work tirelessly to ensure we remain on track in our journey towards both product and service excellence,” he added.
The TTG Travel Awards has been recognising the best of Asia-Pacific’s travel industry since 1989.
This annual event honours organisations and individuals in four categories namely Travel Supplier, Travel Agency Outstanding Achievement and Travel Hall of Fame.
