Oct 10: Ringgit closes stronger against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher against the US dollar today on mild buying for the local note, a dealer said.

At 6pm, the local unit was quoted at 4.2170/2220 against the greenback, from yesterday's 4.2300/2340.

The dealer said the US dollar’s weakness is due to increased uncertainty over another US interest rate hike in December.

The local note traded mostly lower against other major currencies today.

It weakened against the Singapore dollar to 3.1058/1106 from Monday's 3.1028/1062, and inched up against the yen to 3.7521/7572 from 3.7567/7605. It depreciated against the euro to 4.9765/9828 from 4.9673/9724, and fell against the British pound to 5.5652/5739 from 5.5616/5673 previously. -- BERNAMA
