Honda Malaysia poised for best year

PUTRAJAYA: Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd is heading for its best year ever, after selling 23 per cent more vehicles in the first 10 months.

A total of 87,800 units had left Honda dealers' showrooms from January to October, newly-appointed Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama said.

All new and existing Honda models such as the all-new CR-V and new City had recorded impressive sales, Ishiyama said at the launch of the Accord 2.4L Advance sedan with Honda Sensing here today.

Sales of the turbocharged variants contributed 60 per cent to the Civic sedan and 71 per cent to the new CR-V.

This helps strengthen Honda Malaysia's number one position in the non-national segment and number two in the overall industry for the 10 months. The company is confident of achieving its sales target of 100,000 units this year.

Meanwhile, Honda Malaysia vice president Akhbar Danial said the Accord 2.4L Advance was the second model equipped with Honda Sensing, after the new CR-V that was launched in July.

The upgraded Accord will carry the same premium features that are currently available. This includes stylish LED headlights for both front and rear, seven-inch Advanced Display Audio unit with i-MID that is Apple CarPlay compatible and Android Auto ready, and Honda LaneWatch.

"When the ninth generation Accord was launched in 2013, it set a new benchmark in the D-segment as the model that offers premium and advanced features such as the LaneWatch camera.

"From our record, the D-segment is still mainly dominated by Japanese carmakers with Accord being the segment leader as of September," Akhbar said.

The Accord 2.4L Advance with Honda Sensing sells for RM169,800 without insurance.
