KUCHING: Sacofa, Sarawak-based ICT infrastructure company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Brunei's largest telco Datastream Technology to form a partnership to bring affordable international broadband to Sarawak.
Sacofa managing director Mohamed Zaid Zaini said it aims to boost broadband services in the state, in line with the state government's call for digital economy.
"The partnership will be highly beneficial to broadband consumers in Sarawak, where all sections of society can realise the benefits of connectivity no matter how remote they are," he told a press conference here today.
"We are more dedicated than ever to deliver on the Digital Economy vision of Sarawak government," he added.
Zaid said the partnership will leverage on DST's great partnership with MyRepublic, a Singapore based broadband services player.
DST chief executive officer Suhaimi Hussain said its in-depth telecommunications experience together with Sacofa and MyRepublic in providing ICT infrastructure would offer good alliance in realising high quality and affordable broadband services in Sarawak.
"We look forward to working together in developing the next stage of this exciting prospect, which is in line with DST's expansion plan," he said.
