SEREMBAN: There will be four high speed trains operating between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore per hour once the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) project commences operations in 2026.
MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd director of commercial Tonny Yeap said two high speed trains will offer express service between two terminal stations – Bandar Malaysia station in Kuala Lumpur and Jurong East in Singapore.
"The other two high speed trains will cater to the domestic service, with in-between intermediaries stop at seven stations in Malaysia, namely in Bandar Malaysia, Bangi-Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri,” he said.
Both services are expected to reduce travel time between the two countries to less than two hours at a speed of 350km per hour.
"The travel time between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban can also be reduced to only 25 minutes compared to 55 minutes by car today.
"The project will definitely provide Negri folks the opportunity to travel comfortably, conveniently and safely on the HSR to other cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangi and Putrajaya, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat, Iskandar Puteri and Singapore," he said.
Yeap added the Negri Sembilan state will have 52km of HSR alignment out of the total estimated alignment length of 328km in Malaysia, with a station is expected to be located about 15km from Seremban old town and 5km from Keretapi Tanah Melayu Labu station.
"The design of the station combines elements of green beauty, futuristic development and heritage of the Sri Menanti Palace that served as a palace for the Royal family of Negri Sembilan,” he said at a media briefing on the progress of the project here yesterday.
Also present was MyHSR director of public delivery, Mark Loader.
Loader said, the project has received overwhelming support from the state with 96 percent of respondents in Negri Sembilan have provided positive feedback on the project via the Public Inspection exercise that began on Nov 1.
"The state has recorded second highest positive support for the project after Johor. We are encouraged by this strong support received from the community here," he said.
A total of six permanent and temporary Public Inspection booths have been located in the state throughout the Public Inspection period which will end on Jan 31, next year.
"The state’s community will be able to view information about the KL-SG HSR project, its planned alignment, locations of the seven HSR stations in Malaysia, typical station features and layout, railway technical data and socio-economic development programme (SEDP) as well as land acquisition plans at the booth,” he said.
Loader further added that the land acquisition is expected to start by the middle of next year.
