KWAP becomes the first local pension fund of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

KUALA LUMPUR: Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) has today become a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

With the signing of the PRI, Malaysia's second biggest pension fund becomes the first local pension fund to become a signatory to the initiative.

“At KWAP, we believe our focus is directed towards adopting upright environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, to not only improve the long term social security to pensioners, but also our duty to future generations,” KWAP chief executive officer Datuk Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad said.

“The PRI is therefore in line with our efforts in ESG and it further reiterates and demonstrate our commitment to responsible investing.”

KWAP currently have RM125 billion of asset under management, RM2 billion of which is ESG compatible.
