Rolls Royce Cullinan graces Malaysian shores with RM1.8 mil price tag

KUALA LUMPUR: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur is confident of securing a portion of the super-luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) market locally with the introduction of the Rolls Royce Cullinan.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Asia Pacific regional sales manager David Kim said Malaysia is an important market for the British luxury marquee, driven by previous customers among the royals and high-net worth individuals.

“From 2017-2018, the SUV market in Malaysia generally has grown by 30 per cent. Hence, it is the right timing for us to introduce the Cullinan for the super luxury segment in Malaysia, in line with the booming of SUV demand,” he said at a press conference after launching the Rolls Royce Cullinan here today.

Kim added that the introduction of Rolls Royce’s first SUV model here was in tandem with healthy request from customers globally.

“Customers want SUV that offers something more than a normal car is offering, despite the market saturation from car manufacturers launching more SUVs,” he added

Kim expressed confidence that the Cullinan would be successful in Malaysia, extending Rolls Royce’s refinement in performance and comfort in an SUV.

“We received a few orders from customers locally. Our future with Cullinan and we believe it will do very well in Malaysia,” he said.

Rolls Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur director Anas Zawawi Khalid believes there would be enough room for the super luxury SUV segment.

“Rolls Royce is only the super luxury brand in the market and the car is built correctly, catering to ultra high net worth individuals that want more comfort and luxury specification,” he said.

The company expects to deliver the Cullinan for Malaysian customers in May this year, with more units underway.

“We do have private individuals and high net worth customers. It is quite a healthy number considering Malaysia in the global market,” he said, adding that the Cullinan capable to function for daily basis both performance and comfort for onroad and off-road capabilities.

Among the Cullinan contenders in the local market are the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Masersti Levante, Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover.

Under the hood, the Cullinan is powered by the new 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 Rolls Royce engine, churning out 563hp with 850Nm of torque.

With a top speed of 250km/h, the Cullinan capable to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds.

The Cullinan is also equipped with dynamic stability control, antilock brake system, cornering brake control, automatic stability control, lane departure warning and intelligent emergency call, amongst others.

On the equipments, the car has panorama glass roof, rear privacy glass, front and rear massage seats, park assistant, active cruise control, Wifi Hotspot preparation, night vision and head up display.

The Cullinan is priced from RM1.8 million before insurance and exclude road tax. Customers can also have six different inspired or bespoke Rolls Royce specifications.
