KUALA LUMPUR: The new Honda HR-V sport utility vehicle (SUV) has so far received bookings of more than 8,500 units since its launch in January.
The bookings had increased exponentially, achieving over three months’ target within one month with close to 4,000 bookings recorded, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd said.
Since its launch, Honda Malaysia has delivered more than 3,000 units of the new HR-V to its customers.
“The new HR-V dominated 87 per cent of market share in the compact SUV segment as of January 2019 and remains No.1 position as the segment leader,” the company said in a recent statement.
The Klang Valley contributed the highest sales at 47 per cent where the stylish new HR-V proved to be fitting for urban driving.
The southern and northern regions each recorded 18 per cent of the total sales.
The Passion Red Pearl was the new colour option offered by Honda Malaysia, with the new HR-V being the first Honda model here to feature the colour.
“The Passion Red Pearl colour appears to be the favourite among the customers, representing 28 per cent of overall sales for the New HR-V,” the company said.
The new HR-V is offered in four variants namely the Hybrid, RS, V and E.
The petrol variant is powered by a 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC engine combined with Honda's Earth Dreams Technology Continuous Variable Transmission that delivers a fun-to-drive experience.
Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Mr. Toichi Ishiyama said the HR-V had grown in popularity since it was first launched back in 2015.
“The line-up of variants offered in the New HR-V was targeted and planned to meet the demands and requirements of customers for performance, fuel-efficiency and practicality. We are glad to see that the New HR-V has been overwhelmingly received by Malaysians,” he added.
