KUALA LUMPUR: Bina Puri Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, has secured a contract from Thi Qar Governate worth RM303 million.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the contract involved the works for the proposed dual lane road from Al-Islah Junction to Al-Jabayish at Nasirya City in Thi Qar, a southern province of Iraq.
This includes the construction of a 74.5km dual lane road with seven bridges ranging from 14-87 metres length, Bina Puri added.
The contract period is 36 months from date of commencement.
Bina Puri said with the latest award, its latest project book order would increase to RM1.56 billion.
“The contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the Bina Puri Group for the financial year ending June 30, 2020,” it said.
Bina Puri is among the earliest Malaysian construction company to venture overseas since 1995 and has to date carried out a number of construction projects in several countries.
Among the notable completed projects are three highways in India including the Vijayawada–Eluru Expressway, Tada–Nellore Expressway in Andhra Pradesh and the Chittorgarh–Mangalwar Highway in Rajasthan, a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal, Malaysian Chancery Building and official ambassador’s residence in Beijing, China and access road for the new Bangkok International Airport in Thailand.
