KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Automotive Manufacturing’s (NAM) first batch of Peugeot 3008 1.6L Active is expected to arrive in the Philippines by end of this month.
Manufactured in NAM plant in Gurun, Kedah, the European Car of the Year 2017 marks NAM’s first shipment for the Asean region under the new joint venture agreement between Groupe PSA and Naza Corp Holdings.
“The Peugeot 3008 with the Peugeot 5008 1.6 THP are targeted to be available in the Philippines with more than 4,000 units by 2023,” said Naza Automotive Manufacturing, Groupe PSA head of Asean and chief executive Laurence Noël.
Noël said the Philippines would be the first Asean country to receive cars manufactured at NAM under the Asean Free Trade Area for the export market.
“More cars will be exported to other Asean countries very soon,” she added.
In February 2018, Naza Corp and Groupe PSA had signed a share sale and joint venture agreement to officially establish shared operation of NAM plant in Gurun, Kedah, as the first manufacturing hub in Asean for Groupe PSA.
It was also the beginning of NAM to distribute the brands under Groupe PSA including Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel to the Asean region, which contributing significantly to Malaysia’s economy.
