KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) registered a net profit of RM197.87 million for the third quarter ended September 30 2019.
This was 17.43 per cent higher than RM168.49 million net profit in the same period last year, which had mainly been afffected by higher operation cost.
The airport operator's revenue for the current quarter grew 10.2 per cent over the corresponding quarter last year to RM1.355 billion on the back of overall passenger growth of 6.7 per cent.
Its airport operations recorded a revenue growth of 10.7 per cent to RM1.2787 billion.
Revenue from the aeronautical segment increased by 12.9 per cent to RM714 million over the corresponding quarter last year.
MAHB's passenger traffic for the Malaysia operations grew by 8.9 per cent to 27.0 million passengers compared to 24.8 million passengers recorded in the corresponding quarter last year.
The passenger traffic for Turkey operations increased by one per cent to 9.8 million passengers as compared with 9.7 million passengers recorded in the corresponding quarter last year.
Nonaeronautical segment increased eight per cent to RM564.7 million as compared with the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue from the non-airport operations increased by 3.1 per cent or RM2.3 million due to higher revenue from the project and repair maintenance business.
However, for the first nine months, MAHB posted a lower net profit to RM507.53 million compared with RM699.21 million last year.
It recorded revenue of RM3.87 billion, 7.5 per cent higher than the RM3.6 billion revenue recorded in the corresponding period last year.
The positive results were underpinned by the growth in airport operations driven by sustained growth in passenger and aircraft movements.
