Lay Hong serves free meals to orang asli communities

KUALA LUMPUR: Lay Hong Bhd (LHB) donated free meals to the Kampung Orang Asli Serendah and Kampung Orang Asli Gurney communities to break fast, part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The initiative, which was offered by Team CSR NutriPlus, had distributed over 1,000 free meals last week.

LHB executive director Dato' Yap Chor How said in conjunction with the celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, this initiative is part of the company's CSR programme in easing the burden of people in Kampung Orang Asli Serendah and Kampung Orang Asli Gurney.

A total of 1,000 packs of rice boxes, with ingredients comprise of products from Nippon Premium NutriPlus have been distributed.

Yap said as an integrated food producer, the company ensures the nation's food supply is not disrupted and also its responsibility to reach to those in need and hit hard by this pandemic.

The company NutriPlus brand division will focus on high-quality protein, convenience in preparation and cooking products to help people affected in MCO at home to enjoy an easy and accessible meal at any one time.

"The campaign aims to reduce the burdens faced by orang asli due to the lockdown forced by the Covid-19 pandemic, who are also taking part in Ramadan," Yap said.
