KUALA LUMPUR: SAP SE, a leading enterprise solutions providers, urged countries and businesses to 'innovate and transform' so as to elevate their competitiveness levels following disruptions caused by Covid-19.
President and managing director (Southeast Asia) Rachel Barger said that the pandemic has resulted in the world economy going through a period of 'reset' which would lead to a rebound.
"The race for competitiveness has already started again, and countries that sprint forward now would leave others trailing behind," she said.
"For countries and companies that are complacent with a 'wait and see' attitude, they would be left behind – and may even become irrelevant," she added.
Rachel was speaking at the inaugural SAP Forward Together virtual event held today entitled The New Reality of Businesses.
She also shared a recent SAP survey which revealed that 40 per cent of some 4,500 Southeast Asian business leaders polled were adopting a 'wait and see' approach in response to the pandemic.
"Winning companies are those that transform through innovation, more so in today's digitally disruptive world," said Rachel, before encouraging companies to make the transition to becoming intelligent enterprises.
"In a new reality, intelligent enterprises can do more with less, deliver best-in-class customer experience, build resilient supply chains, while inventing new business models and revenue streams," she said.
Here in Malaysia, various companies have already embarked on their digital transformation journeys.
NST Business had previously reported that one such company was Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) which has adopted various SAP technologies – including the HANA platform for live intelligence – in its quest to become a world-class utility.
SESB is also developing world-class data-management and business intelligence capabilities to accurately forecast energy demands and optimise operations.
In its efforts to support business continuity, SAP has opened up access to selected technology solutions, including free access to SAP Ariba Discovery, the world's largest business network, until 31 December 2020.
Additionally, businesses can also access the SAP Value Lifecycle Manager, an industry benchmark tool that supports businesses to measure, monitor and optimise value across the enterprise.
