KUALA LUMPUR: Kanger International Bhd is ready to distribute Covid-19 vaccines to private clinics and hospitals in Malaysia, as soon as it receives the go-ahead from the government.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Kanger said that it had been allocated 10,000 doses of a Covid-19 vaccine for trial purposes.
The ACE-Market listed firm said the first batch of the vaccine was expected to arrive as early as May.
The company said it was working on getting approval from the relevant authorities to distribute the vaccine here.
Kanger, which has been diversifying its business to include rubber glove manufacturing, is one of a few companies in Malaysia to potentially distribute Covid-19 vaccines.
Other companies jumping on the bandwagon are My EG Services Bhd (MyEG), Ho Wah Genting Bhd, Solution Group Bhd, Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd, and Yong Tai Bhd.
Kanger said last September that it had entered into a collaboration with China-bsed Sinopharm Group Hunan Changde Medical Co Ltd to distribute the latter's vaccine and medical equipment products in Malaysia.
The vaccine and medical equipment products are developed by state-owned China National Pharmaceutical Group Corp, one of China's largest and oldest biotech companies.
Sinopharm's Covid-19 vaccine was approved for emergency use in July 2020.
Kanger had roped in Zuellig Pharma Sdn Bhd, which is the largest vaccine distributor in Asia including Malaysia, to collaborate on the distribution of the vaccines in Malaysia.
It has also inked a Memorandum of Understand with K-Star Sport Ltd appointing the latter or its subsidiary as the sales agent of Covid-19 vaccines for private clinics in Malaysia.
