KUALA LUMPUR: GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSK Consumer Healthcare), owner of the Scott's brand of products, has launched the new Scott's Gummies with Multivitamin to support children's growth and development.
GSK Consumer Healthcare general manager Bryan Wong said its vision was to produce meaningful products through innovation that drives growth in the vitamin category for children.
Wong said a highly trusted brand, Scott's has a well-established product range that continues to grow and innovate to serve children's nutrition needs.
"Many children avoid eating certain foods like fish that are rich in Vitamins A, B6 and D, and legumes that are rich in Zinc.
"The cott's Gummies with Multivitamin has been developed by nutrition experts and dieticians to provide children with essential micronutrients. We still emphasise that a good, balanced diet is imperative to ensure little ones get sufficient nutrients for their healthy growth," Wong said at the product's virtual launch today.
A relatively high percentage of young children in developing countries face micronutrient deficiencies.
The company said research suggested that Vitamin A and D were among the most common nutrient deficiencies prevalent in children, which often result in poor immunity, growth and development.
"The Scott's Gummies with Multivitamin contains the goodness of these essential nutrients at appropriate levels for children.
"At the same time, the gummies come in delicious Apple and Tropical flavours, catering to their preferred taste. The gummies are shaped like lions, monkeys and crocodiles, making it all the more attractive."
Scott's has tapped into the multivitamin category as it covers only 29 per cent in the child healthcare supplement range, with Vitamin C taking up 41 per cent and fish-based supplements covering 30 per cent.
The existing Scott's product portfolio focuses on DHA for brain development and Vitamin C for immunity.
Thus, the company recognised the unmet need for multivitamins that promote growth and development.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said Scott's Gummies with Multivitamin is making it easier for parents to help their children consume all these essential vitamins and nutrients on a day-to-day basis in the form of gummies.
"During this unprecedented Covid-19 times, and now that schools are reopening, I would like to take this opportunity to urge parents to always keep your children strong and strengthen their immune system," she added.
