Foreign investors are Bursa's net buyers, again

KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign investors remained net buyers of Malaysian stocks for the week ended on August 27 with an inflow of RM964.33 million, MIDF Research said.

This was the third consecutive week of net buying by the foreign investors, the firm said in its weekly fund flow report today.

MIDF Research said as the market reopened last Monday, foreign investors were net buyers amounting to RM6.7 million.

Local institutions bought RM19.16 million net of local equities, with retailers as net sellers to the tune of RM25.86 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers for everyday of the week.

MIDF Research said the largest foreign inflow was recorded on Thursday and the smallest inflow on Monday at  RM310.79 million and RM6.7 million respectively.

Retail investors were net sellers for everyday of the week except on Monday.

The largest net selling by the retailers was recorded on Tuesday at RM48.43 million and smallest net selling was on Friday at RM16.88 million.

MIDF Research said cumulatively for the week, retailers net sold RM113.96 million worth of equities.

Local institutions recorded cumulative weekly net selling of RM850.37 million.

In terms of participation the retail investors, local institutions and foreign investors recorded a weekly movement of 3.82 per cent, 9.89 per cent and 16.82 per cent respectively in average daily trade value.
