KUALA LUMPUR: Honeywell is in discussion with landfill operators and recyclers in Southeast Asia to better understand waste collection and management, said Honeywell vice president of global high growth regions Norman L Gilsdorf.
They will work towards identifying a viable value proposition that can positively affect policies that support plastic circularity.
Gilsdorf said in an era where single used plastic was commonplace, recycling technology provided a timely solution to dispose of plastic waste safely while creating a viable economic value.
Honeywell recycling technology, he added, offered a sustainable solution that enables plastic circularity - turning waste plastic to fuel, useful chemicals or repurposed plastic.
"In Asean, Honeywell invents and commercialises technologies that address some of the world's most critical challenges around energy, safety, security, air travel, productivity and global urbanisation.
"As a diversified technology and manufacturing company, Honeywell is uniquely positioned to blend physical products with software to serve customers worldwide with aerospace products and services, energy efficient products and solutions for businesses, and specialty chemicals, among others," he told the New Straits Times in an email interview recently.
In working towards promoting sustainability in the aviation industry, Gilsdorf said the company's software and weather radar enabled and promoted safer and more fuel-efficient flight routes that avoid bad weather.
"Honeywell also continues to enhance our Ecofining technology including possible revamping of under-utilised refineries to produce cost efficient sustainable aviation fuel," he added.
Asked if the company was collaborating with any partners under the Green Technology Master Plan Malaysia 2017-2030, Gilsdorf said the company collaborated with government agencies and ministries, trade and manufacturer associations as well as local partners in every sector to apply its technologies to achieve sustainability goals.
"We strive to provide solutions to nations, organisations and parties that are looking for a sustainable, consistent, and efficient solutions in relevant sectors that are looking to improve sustainability.
"In Southeast Asia, we are actively working on projects to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and the production of renewable fuels," he added.
