Oracle Consulting helps businesses digitise and adopt the cloud

NOW more than ever, businesses need to remain agile.

It is vital for businesses to embrace digital transformation to streamline operations, cut costs and improve interactions with consumers and staff.

For cloud provider Oracle, they supply companies with a complete suite of cloud-based solutions to achieve real business outcomes.

Oracle Consulting, the implementation services arm, helps clients to plan and implement the full range of Oracle solutions, while providing support and continuous innovation.

With more than 200 projects under their belt in the past 15 months, Oracle Consulting is transforming the ecosystem of many Malaysian businesses.

According to Oracle Consulting's Vice President, APAC, Vijay Motwani, they have worked with companies in Malaysia like UEM, CIMB Bank and others.

One of their most recent projects was with PETRONAS, in which Oracle Consulting delivered Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) to redefine the future of work in the organisation. Oracle Cloud HCM went live for 36,000 employees across various PETRONAS subsidiaries and countries in November 2021.

Nevertheless, he says that digitalisation is not just for big companies.

"Covid-19 has driven cloud adoption much faster than before. Whether it's a small, medium or large business, every business has realised that by moving to the cloud, not only do they reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), but they also become far more agile and can leverage the continuous innovations offered on the cloud," explained Motwani.

For small companies or those just starting to digitise their businesses, Motwani said that most of them would need a financial system for accounting and auditing purposes, as well as for reporting and monitoring their cash position.

Depending on the company's priorities, they can also consider Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, a complete suite of Software as a Service applications that bring consistent processes and a single source of truth across the most important business functions – from enterprise resource planning, supply chain management and human capital management to advertising and customer experience.

Surprisingly, the main struggle for the Oracle Consulting team isn't convincing companies to go digital.

"It's not hard to get them on a digital agenda. But when the project starts, the number one issue is managing the change from old legacy systems to a cloud model. Adopting the cloud is easy, but changing people's mindsets and habits is the biggest challenge," shared Motwani.

Looking ahead, Motwani said that while many large organisations in Malaysia have made their move to the cloud, they can go broader in terms of services utilised.

Furthermore, since these companies are generating a lot of data, the next step is learning how to harness this data and generate meaningful insights that will drive business outcomes.
