SMTrack identifies "scandalmongers", initiates legal action & demands RM100mil compensation

KUALA LUMPUR: SMTrack Bhd says it has identified parties and individuals responsible for the accusation against the company on the implementation of RFID projects at toll plazas.

Deputy executive chairman Azmi Osman said the company had sent a notice of demand, apology, cease and desist and intimation of legal proceedings to the individuals.

SMTrack said the notice demanded RM100 million to be paid by the individuals as compensation for the damages and losses caused to the company.

It also demanded the individuals to make a public apology and withdraw all the defamatory statements.

Azmi said any monetary compensation awarded by the court would be channelled to a charity to help flood victims.

"We hope the public will support the action as this is important to help rebuild the nation. We also believe that the donation will be a gesture of good faith on our end," he added.
