KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Communications' YES today announced the opening of the first-ever YES 5G Playground in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur.
YTL Communications chief executive officer Wing K Lee said there are more than two million 5G compatible phones in use in Malaysia today, but not every Malaysian has the chance to understand or experience it before buying.
Lee said this is why the company built the 5G playground to allow all Malaysians from all walks of life to learn, discover, and play with 5G.
"As we've always been committed to spearheading a more connected future for Malaysians, we built the 5G Playground because we want everyone to be able to enjoy and experience 5G even if they do not currently own a 5G phone or service.
"We hope that as they visit the 5G Playground, they will be able to experience the world of endless possibilities that the power of 5G has to offer," he said.
The YES 5G Playground opens to the public at the Premier Terrace of Lot 10 from March 7 to 31, 2022, daily from 10 am to 10 pm.
The YES 5G Playground paves the way for Malaysians to learn, discover, play and be the first to experience 5G in Malaysia.
"Cited as the newest generation of mobile technology, 5G offers an unparalleled experience with higher speeds, more reliable coverage, reduced latency, and great network capacity.
"There are many activities at the 5G Playground that will give Malaysians the ultimate 5G experience," it said.
The successful 5G deployment was made possible by the government's backing for the single wholesale network (SWN) model to bring 5G to the country at the lowest cost by 2024.
YTL Communications is committed to supporting the government to realise the potential of 5G and to accelerating the digital economy in Malaysia.
