KUALA LUMPUR: Exabytes Capital Group Sdn Bhd has completed the acquisition of Infinity Consulting Technology Sdn Bhd (ICT), a specialist in enterprise disaster recovery and backup services under the brand Aegis.
Aegis is the first subscription-based provider offering specialised cloud disaster recovery (CDR) service, with its main client base being the enterprise segment.
Exabytes said the acquisition was a strategic move to expand its domain in the enterprise business and lead cloud-first digital transformation in Malaysia and the Asian region.
Group chief executive officer Chan Kee Siak said the company aimed to be the leading cloud and digital business solutions and service provider in the region.
"Our acquisition of ICT, or Aegis gives us an edge in Enterprise business solutions, especially disaster recovery services. We are now a stronger one-stop e-commerce solutions provider.
"This 100 per cent acquisition of Aegis allows us to immediately offer Exabytes current portfolio of clients, made up of 160,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and business enterprises worldwide, a cost-effective digital business continuity, disaster recovery and data protection services.
"These are much-needed solutions with the rapid adoption and expansion of e-commerce globally, in recent years," Chan said in a statement today.
Exabytes executive vice president and head of enterprise business Eric Foo said customers can now expect more comprehensive cloud-first digital transformation products and services.
"Foremost, the cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions help customers reduce in-house IT resource maintenance cost, save on capital investment of hardware and software as well as provide flexible scalability plans to meet customers' disaster recovery needs, data recovery and backup solutions requirements.
"These solutions and services will now be made available in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia," he said.
Exabytes currently serves over 160,000 small and medium-sized businesses in 121 countries.
