KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japanese project management expert Index Strategy, Inc. to explore opportunities and strategically collaborate on a "preferred partner" basis.
In a statement today, the engineering and project management consultant said the partnership will also include collaboration in various sectors of interest including public-private partnership (PPP) investment projects.
HSS and Index will collaborate on potential infrastructure projects in Asean, India and any other country including in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.
The MoU will also see HSS' subsidiary, HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd, and Index participating in business opportunities.
Priorities will be given to social and civil infrastructure projects through PPP investments in transportation, water and public infrastructure sectors including smart cities, hospitals, universities and social housing projects.
HSS Engineers executive vice chairman Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam said the partnership will enable it to continue to be in the forefront of spearheading the development of regional infrastructure.
He believes that the sector coverage of social and civil infrastructure projects through the PPP method complements our skillsets and core competencies thus far.
"The signing of this MoU with renowned project management expert Index would allow us to further capitalise our project management expertise as we play a major role in high-impact national projects in Malaysia, such as the on-going Mass Rapid Transit and Pan Borneo Highway projects.
This is HSS' fourth such preferred partnership with a Japanese firm, after signing similar MoUs with Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd (OC Global), Yachiyo Engineering Co Ltd and Shizen International Inc in 2022.
Index is a recognised pioneer of project management in the construction industry in Japan, specialising in planning, coordinating and executing a wide variety of projects in accordance with specific requirements and needs by public, private and service users.
The company has significant global PPP presence, undertaking projects in Ghana, Vietnam and the Philippines.
