KUALA LUMPUR: The UMW Group's vehicle sales jumped to 36,780 units in July 2023, 47 per cent higher than the 24,983 units registered in July 2022.
In a statement today, UMW said this was as both UMW Toyota Motor and UMW's associate company, Perodua continue to deliver their cars amidst encouraging outstanding bookings.
UMW Toyota registered 8,349 units in July 2023, 26 per cent higher compared with the 6,637 units delivered in July 2022.
The top selling models for the month were the Toyota Vios, Hilux and Corolla Cross.
Perodua's sales surged to 28,431 units in July 2023, an improvement of 55 per cent compared with the 18,346 units delivered in July 2022.
The strong sales in July was underpinned by the increase in production supported by the improving supply chain.
UMW Holdings Bhd president and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said the group is pleased with the strong sales registered by both UMW Toyota and Perodua in July 2023, as demand remains healthy.
He added that year-to-date, both companies have continued to register higher sales compared with the same period of 2022.
"Moving forward, the group will continue to introduce competitive and exciting new models to meet its customers' requirements. "We would like to extend our appreciation to our customers for their continuous support of our products and services," he noted.
From January to July 2023, UMW Toyota registered 57,008 units, representing an eight per cent growth compared with the 52,548 units delivered in the corresponding period of 2022.
Meanwhile, Perodua registered 173,121 units from January to July 2023, 19 per cent higher than the 145,689 units delivered in the same period of 2022.
Moving forward, Perodua is expected to continue to fulfil its outstanding bookings as it expects to sell 314,000 units in 2023.
To further strengthen its order book, UMW Toyota is offering special promotions as well as the Toyota EZ Beli financing option for the purchase of selected Toyota models.
