MYAirline ops suspension to affect 39 flights, 5,000 passengers

KUALA LUMPUR: MYAirline Sdn Bhd's suspended operation may affect a total of 39 flights servicing local destinations and one international route to Don Mueang Airpor as well as about 5,000 passengers on Oct 12.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd has advised passengers who are not yet at the airport not to come to the airport. Instead, they can explore alternative flight options from other carriers through the respective airlines' websites.

Helping to minimise the inconvenience experienced by affected passengers, MAHB has mobilised its resources to provide assistance to stranded passengers of MYAirline after the airline suspended  its operations earlier today.

MAHB said relevant notices have been put up at the terminals and airport staff are on ground to offer assistance on alternative flight options by other carriers.

"At KL International Airport (KLIA), resting areas have been provided at Level 3 Terminal 2 and Level 5 Anjung Tinjau Terminal 1 so that passengers can wait for their next flight comfortably.

"Currently, the situation at affected airports are under control," it said.

MYAirline  announced on Thursday that it had suspended its flight operations effective immediately until further notice.

This makes it the first Malaysia-based airline to collapse post-pandemic, even as the industry regains its footing after years of Covid-19.

This comes as the airline on Sunday said it was in advanced stages of finalising strategic partnerships.

It had also received an extension for its air operator's certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia on Monday, allowing it to operate commercial passenger flights for another two years until 2025.

Affected MYAirline passengers have been told to reach out to the airline at customercare@myairline.my.
