UCrest, Rwanda's StayOnline to digitalise healthcare sector

KUALA LUMPUR: UCrest Bhd has signed a business partnership with Rwanda-based StayOnline Ltd to digitalise the healthcare industry with artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of medical things (IoMT) into StayOnline's digital payment platform.

The platform offers intelligent medical services to the population in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia, elevating the healthcare industry to a new era.

Both companies agreed to integrate the payment gateways that are currently supporting millions of users into iMedic digital health e-commerce platform, providing millions of users with easy access to medical service providers in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and other countries.

Patients will not only have access to doctors in the countries, but also the renowned specialists in the United States, Europe, China, Singapore and other countries.

UCrest chairman Eg Kah Yee said its business is poised to improve "significantly" following the partnership as both parties can extend their services to both regions.

"Once we get the platform integrated, the payment and the businesses we currently have can be extended to Africa. At the same time, any businesses that StayOnline has can be extended to merchants in Asia. It is a huge compliment. Part of it will flow through an integrated payment gateway," he told reporters at a virtual media briefing today.

Eg added that the partnership with StayOnline is strategic and instrumental in elevating the healthcare service to the next level, with high degree of automation and efficiency.

The companies will jointly develop the iMedic Centre of Excellence (iCOE) for digital health in collaboration with leading medical service providers and universities or research centres, providing training and certification to the doctors, accelerating the digitalisation of the healthcare industry.

The centre will serve as a platform for research and development of IoMT and AI in the healthcare industry, collaborating with the universities, research institutions, startups or any medical technology companies to accelerate the digitalization of the economy of the country.

iMedic is the digital health platform developed by UCrest currently used in multiple countries in Asia, Middle East, and United States.

iMedicconnects to over 30 wireless medical devices including ECG, blood pressure monitor, oximeter, ultrasound, BMI machines, CPAP, fundus cameras and others.

"With digital health service offerings on the integrated platform, not only we are extending the services to every person in the country, but also every corner in Africa and the world," said StayOnline chief executive officer Desire Muhinyuza.

"With AI and IOMT technologies powering the healthcare services, it will significantly improve the efficacy of the patients, greatly improve the efficiency of the healthcare industry, tremendously reduce the escalating healthcare costs," he added.
