World Chinese entrepreneurs convention in KL to delve into changing global trend to help businesses

KUALA LUMPUR: The upcoming 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) here will discuss the changing global trend to help businesses to navigate through current challenges and future trends.

Organised by Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (Acccim), its second day forum session will assemble 24 local and international speakers.

The convention themed "Reimagineering the Future" will be held from September 9 to 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to deliver his keynote speech on the second day.

Acccim deputy president Datuk Ng Yih Ping said the convention aims to attract 4,500 local and international participants.

To date, he said the convention has recorded a total of 2,800 registration from foreign participants.

According to Ng, the speakers consists of world-renowned entrepreneurs, experts, and Malaysian government officials.

"They will share their insights and perspectives on topics revolving around business, technologies, innovation, sustainable development, and beyond during the forum sessions," he said in a press conference today, announcing the speakers lineup.

He explained that the convention will address ongoing global trends and issues that are related to geoeconomics, artificial intelligence (AI), trade and investment, cooperation, creativity, and inclusiveness. 

"Through that, our participants will gain insights on current challenges and future trends, and continue to prosper in future.

"It is our goal to make this convention an essential platform for thought leadership that pioneer perspectives for progress, and we hope that the in-depth engagement and discussions will lead us to a better future," he added.

Head of convention committee Teoh Kok Lin said other than seeking for business opportunity and addressing current trend, the convention also intend to attract more investment into Malaysia.

"We are working closely with the government agency to bring out the best of Malaysia. Recently, Malaysia brought in a lot investment and I think there still a lot of tremendous potential," he said.

According to Teoh, the second-day forum session will deep dive topics such as Asean market's potential, future of semiconductors as well as green and artificial intelligence economy, among others.

Teoh said the speakers will include Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
