Hengyuan says leakage to unit fixed, operations getting back to normal

KUALA LUMPUR: Hengyuan Refining company Bhd announced that the repair works to fix the leakage found at the carbon monoxide boiler (CO) Boiler to the Long Residue Catalytic Cracking Unit (LRCCU) were completed on June 30, 2024.

Together with the LRCCU, the regulatory inspection activities for Hydrogen Manufacturing Unit (HMU) and Euro4Mogas facility (E4M), have been completed.

The refinery plant is now recovering to its normal operational levels, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

On June 20, 2024, Hengyuan Refining announced a revenue impact due to the shutdown of its LRCCU for inspection and repair after a leakage was detected in its carbon monoxide boiler.

The LRCCU plays a crucial role in converting high-boiling point, high-molecular weight hydrocarbon fractions of crude oil into high-value consumer petroleum products.

Due to the unexpected shutdown of the LRCCU, the oil-refining company was required to also shut down the hydrogen manufacturing unit (HMU) and the Euro4Mogas facility (E4M) for inspection in compliance with regulatory requirements

The company's share price closed unchanged at RM2.75 a share, giving it a market capitalisation of RM825 million.
