KUALA LUMPUR: Nova MSC Berhad has signed share subscription agreements (SSA) with two Singapore-based firms for its subsidiaries, Dex-Lab Pte Ltd and Eyris Pte Ltd, with a total consideration of RM81 million.
In a statement, the software company said Jostar Investment and Mark Investment Group (MIG) subscribed to new shares in Dex-Lab for S$10 million (RM34.5 million) and Eyris for US$10 million (RM46.5 million).
Upon completion, Dex-Lab will remain a 45 per cent directly owned subsidiary of Nova MSC, while Jostar and MIG will hold 12.5 per cent stakes each.
Dex-Lab, known for developing Dexie, a humanoid social robot for dementia care, and Eyris, renowned for its AI-driven Selena+ system for early detection of eye diseases, will benefit from the fresh capital to further their innovative projects.
Executive chairman Sunny Loh said support from Jostar and MIG, who share the same enthusiasm for technological innovation, underscores the transformative potential of Nova MSC projects.
"The integration of social robots like Dexie into eldercare demonstrates how technology can significantly enhance emotional support and companionship for the elderly, improving their overall well-being.
"Furthermore, our AI-driven Selena+ system for early detection of eye diseases exemplifies the critical role of deep learning in healthcare, enabling timely diagnosis and intervention," he said.
Loh added that such advancements represent technological milestones and highlight their commitment to make a positive impact on the world through digital transformation and innovative solutions.
He noted that the additional funding will support the subsidiaries' growth and innovation, particularly in advancing AI and robotics technologies.
