Johor enhances land management through digitalisation

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor has announced a significant step towards enhancing the efficiency of its land management through digitalisation.

In collaboration with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), the state has established the Johor Singapore Special Economic Zone's (JS-SEZ) Land Matters Working Group (WG).

Through the initiative, both parties will host a special programme to streamline land processes, including the Surrender and Regrant (SBKS) procedure.

"The program aims to review the improved work processes for the development of a digital land management system for Johor.

"Through digitalisation, these affairs are expected to become more efficient and productive, thereby supporting the JS-SEZ's goal of driving the region's economic growth," MPC said in a statement.

MPC said the initiative is a proactive step in supporting economic development and enhancing Johor's competitiveness in attracting foreign investment.

"With increased productivity and efficiency in building permit processing, investment processes and infrastructure development can be accelerated.

"This, in turn, creates more job opportunities and stimulates local economic growth," it said.

Participation from officers from the Land and Mines Office, ICT Unit and related land offices demonstrates strong commitment towards achieving the objectives.

The officers are exposed to the latest technologies and best practices in land management, which will assist them in performing their duties more efficiently.

MPC southern region director Mohd Azwan Mohd Salleh emphasised that digitalisation is the key to transforming public services into more responsive and user-friendly entities.

He also reminded that the cooperation between Johor and Singapore in the JS-SEZ initiative is crucial to ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

With the implementation of digital land affairs, Johor is poised to become a catalyst for more dynamic and progressive economic development.
