Maxis and China Mobile Ink MoU to accelerate 5G growth and innovation

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global telecommunications operator China Mobile International to drive growth in the telecommunications sector.

The MoU is aimed at accelerating 5G initiatives and leveraging the combined strengths of both companies to foster innovation and drive growth in the telecommunications sector, they said.

Maxis chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng said the company is pleased to collaborate with China Mobile to accelerate the digitalisation journey of Malaysian enterprises and the nation's own digital ambitions.

"By tapping into our combined core competencies and technical expertise, we aim to develop market fit 5G solutions that demonstrate a deep understanding of the needs of enterprises and industries and the potential of 5G to drive growth and efficiency in Malaysia and beyond," said Goh.

The partnership will leverage China Mobile's extensive international presence and comprehensive information services alongside Maxis expertise in fixed and mobile infrastructure, digital solutions as well as its significant local enterprise customer base.

The MoU outlines several key initiatives, including the development of private 5G networks, 5G consultation and applications, smart park solutions, advancements in artificial intelligence, and joint research and development projects.

"Both companies will also focus on sharing technical expertise and exploring new

market opportunities," Maxis said.

"By combining their resources and expertise, China Mobile and Maxis aim to drive significant advancements in the telecommunications sector, expand into new markets, and deliver cutting-edge solutions to a global customer base," it added.
