Maxis' net profit rises 7.9pct to RM356mil, revenue up to RM2.47bil in Q2

KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd reported a net profit of RM356 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2024, marking a 7.9 per cent rise from RM330 million in the same quarter last year.

The telecommunications company's revenue grew 4.7 per cent to RM2.59 billion from RM2.47 RM2.59 billion a year ago, driven by a 3.7 per cent increase in consumer service revenue and a 10.8 per cent growth in its enterprise businesses.

Maxis' consumer business was driven by stronger performance in postpaid and home connectivity.

Its postpaid revenue grew 5.2 per cent, bolstered by an 8.0 per cent increase in subscribers.

The prepaid segment, targeting youths, remained strong with a 2.3 per cent increase in subscribers, driven by the appeal of personalised deals, internet passes, and lifestyle perks.

In the home connectivity segment, service revenue rose by 9.6 per cent, with fibre broadband being the main growth driver.

"Maxis' own fibre network and strategic partnerships allow the company to offer attractive broadband and mobile bundles, supporting its commitment to providing fast, secure, and reliable integrated connectivity," it said.

Maxis said the revenue growth, along with disciplined cost management, led to a 4.4 per cent growth in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) to RM1,04 million.

The company declared an interim dividend of 4.0 sen per share.

Maxis chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng said the growth  on all fronts was a testament to its focus on real customer needs and determination to win in the market.

"We have built a solid foundation by staying disciplined across the business and leveraging the best of technology and partnerships to deliver on our strategy.

"Enabled by network, operational and service excellence, our strong performance demonstrates our readiness to take a lead role in supporting Malaysia's digital ambitions through the rollout of a 5G advanced network," he said.
