[Updated] Short selling in Globetronics, APB shares suspended after sharp price drop

KUALA LUMPUR: Short selling in  Globetronics Technology Bhd and APB Resources Bhd were both suspended after their share price dropped more than 15 per cent today.

Globetronics' share price fell as much as 26.9 per cent today to 58.5 sen.

As at 3.10pm, the company's share price dropped 22.5 per cent or 18 sen to 62 sen.

As for APB, which owns a 10.37 per cent interest in Globetronics, its share price dropped to a low of RM1.12, down 24 sen or 17.6 per cent today, versus RM1.36 at closing bell yesterday.

It last traded 5 per cent lower at RM1.30 a share.

Short selling in both stocks will resume on Wednesday at 8.30am.

Globetronics announced today that it received a notice on September 4 from Messrs. KPMG PLT on their resignation as auditors of the company on a voluntary basis.

"Pursuant to Section 281(2) of the Companies Act, 2016, Messrs. KPMG PLT's term of office will be ending after 21 days from Sept 4, 2024 (ie. on Sept 25, 2024). The resignation of Messrs. KPMG PLT was on a voluntary basis. "

"Save for the above, the board of directors of GTB wishes to inform that the company is not aware of any other matters that need to be brought to the attention of the shareholders," it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia Securities.
