KUALA LUMPUR: Tex Cycle Technology (M) Bhd's subsidiary Tex Evolusi Waste Management Sdn Bhd has secured the environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval for an integrated waste management facility in Sabah.
The proposed off-site scheduled waste storage and recovery facility is located at Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).
Tex Cycle said the approval is a crucial step for the commencement of operations for the off-site scheduled waste storage and recovery facility at SOGIP.
The facility, representing a substantial capital commitment of RM100.0 million, is scheduled to commence construction in the fourth quarter of 2024 (4Q24).
It is expected to set new benchmarks for waste management in the region, leveraging advanced recovery and recycling technologies to maximise resource efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
Its group chief executive officer Gary Dass Anthony Francis said with the EIA approval in place, the company is now ready to move forward with the development of the facility, which represents a significant investment in Sabah's environmental and economic future.
"This facility is not just a project but a pivotal element of our commitment to protecting the environment and enhancing community well-being through responsible waste management practices," he said in a statement.
Tex Cycle said the facility is a pivotal development for the company, aimed at streamlining waste management processes and enhancing environmental safeguards.
The company said the EIA approval underlines the facility's compliance with stringent environmental standards, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a manner that prioritises sustainability and minimises environmental impact.
