KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA), formerly known as the Malaysia Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), recently hosted a dinner for its advisors and council members to celebrate their achievements.
Its president Datuk Seri Ricky Yaw expressed gratitude to all honorary advisors, board members, sponsors and guests at the event.
He highlighted the challenges overcome by the association over the past two years, including external pressures, and praised the collective efforts of the members for successfully promoting business exchanges and cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia.
MCBA announced that the association will host its second annual celebration dinner on Nov 27 at the HGH Convention Centre, expecting between 500 to 600 guests from Malaysia and Cambodia.
Th event aims to further strengthen and expand business connections between the two countries, creating more opportunities for future cooperation and growth.
MCBA also announced that the association had received approval from the Registrar of Societies to change its name from Malaysia Cambodia Chamber of Commerce to Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association while retaining its Chinese name.
The renaming reflects the association's strong commitment to enhancing commercial ties between the two nations, while also addressing any potential confusion or sensitivities associated with the former name.
"The change lays a solid foundation for the association's unique positioning and brand in the region," it said.
The association aims to continue seizing opportunities in Cambodia's rapid development, particularly with major projects like the upcoming Phnom Penh Techno Airport and the construction of the Mekong-Phnom Penh Port Canal.
The developments will provide broader platforms for cooperation between businesses from both countries.
