KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia maintained its momentum to end the morning trading session in positive territory with utility and banking stocks leading the move up.
At 12.30pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI added 0.36 per cent or 5.81 points to 1,626.51 versus Tuesday's close of 1,620.70.
The broader market saw gainers led losers 590 to 348 while 439 counters were unchanged.
Maybank Investment Bank said the index was supported by buying activities in utility and banking stocks.
"Broad market flipped back into positive territory today, stocks within the healthcare sector continued to show strength. "
It said the technology sector turned somewhat positive today, with over half of the index's constituents trading in the green.
On the index board, FBM100 added 0.52 per cent to 12,000.79, FBM Emas gained 0.54 per cent to 12,292.91 and FBM Ace was up 0.94 per cent to 5,116.55.
