KUALA LUMPUR: The Access Group, a UK-based business management software company, plans to create over 1,000 new jobs in Malaysia by 2027.
This aligns with Malaysia's goal of developing skilled local talent and generating 500,000 high-value digital jobs by 2025.
The company recently launched its new Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Kuala Lumpur, marking its first major facility in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Currently staffed with 417 employees, the GOC is expected to play a significant role in advancing Malaysia's digital economy.
Access chief executive officer Chris Bayne said that the new GOC will foster stronger relationships with the local workforce and customers, expand its network of shared service centers, and ensure consistent service delivery.
The GOC is a key element of the group's APAC expansion strategy and will focus on critical areas such as product engineering, customer success, and operational support across the Asia Pacific region, the UK, Europe, and the USA.
The group plans to collaborate with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to take advantage of government incentives aimed at supporting international businesses within Malaysia's growing digital sector.
MDEC's support will enable Access to operate flexibly and expand its presence nationwide.
This move enhances the group's capacity to deliver innovative software solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises, further positioning Malaysia as a global digital economy leader and creating numerous local job opportunities.
"With the country's digital economy projected to contribute 25.5 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and create up to 500,000 jobs by 2025, I believe this centre will play a vital role in achieving this target and equipping the local workforce with essential skills in digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI)," said Minister in the Prime Minister Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
"Kuala Lumpur is a city of limitless opportunities. The Access Group's presence enriches our business landscape, strengthening the city's role as a vibrant interconnected hub."
