KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed mixed at midday as the rise in the key index was unable to raise the broader market.
At 12:30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI rose 0.94 per cent or 14.9 points, to 1,604.68 versus Friday's close of 1,589.78.
The benchmark index moved between 1,588.46 and 1,609.29 in the morning trading session, lifted by financial services and utilities heavyweights.
The broader market, however, saw decliners lead gainers 487 to 389, while 461 counters were unchanged.
FBM100 added 0.81 per cent to 11,909.56; FBM Emas rose 0.75 per cent to 12,201.79, while FBM Ace lost 0.6 per cent to 5,131.93.
Top gainers include Hong Leong Bank Bhd, which added 28 sen to RM20.76, and YTL Power International Bhd rose 22 sen to RM3.12.
On the losing end, Nestle (M) Bhd lost 60 sen to RM96.90, and Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd tumbled 28 sen to RM28.12.
