KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia extended its losing streak for the fourth consecutive day, weighed down by heavyweights such as IHH Healthcare Bhd and Sunway Bhd.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped by 0.36 per cent, dropping 5.77 points to close at 1,603.20, down from Tuesday's finish of 1,608.97.
The overall market sentiment was bearish, with 652 losers outpacing 418 gainers, while 490 counters remained unchanged.
Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd highlighted the technology sector as the day's standout performer, driven by gains in Dagang Nexchange Bhd and Greatech Technology Bhd.
"Meanwhile, the healthcare sector experienced the largest decline, as profit-taking activities happened across the hospital operators following the hike in insurance premium recently," it said.
