SHAH ALAM: Selangor Aviation Show 2024 has hit a record-breaking potential transaction value of RM3.2 billion, marking a significant milestone for the event.
This marks an increase from the RM823 million in potential transaction value recorded last year.
The fourth edition aviation show, which was held from Sept 12-14 at SkyPark RAC, attracted over 29,000 visitors, surpassing the target of 25,000 and representing a substantial leap from the 19,217 visitors recorded last year.
State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said as a flagship initiative of Selangor, organised by Invest Selangor, SAS continues to drive economic growth by advancing strategic industrial and service sectors.
"Selangor's position as the gateway to Asean offers unparalleled opportunities for local and international businesses to tap into the region's thriving markets, further solidifying its status as a leading investment and trade hub," he told media at a press conference today.
Ng added that SAS 2024 achieved a major milestone with the signing of 41 memorandums of understanding (MoUs), marking a nearly twofold increase compared to the 28 agreements last year.
These agreements highlight collaborations between numerous local companies and foreign entities, including three from Singapore and one each from China, the Czech Republic and Thailand, underscoring the event's expanding global reach, he added.
"These MoUs highlight a broad spectrum of strategic collaborations across various aerospace sub-sectors.
"These include joint ventures for the development of Selangor Aero Park (SAP), advancements in sustainable aviation fuel and green technologies in Malaysia, electric aviation initiatives for vocational workforce development, aerospace research, along with training programmes and partnerships to expand maintenance, repair and overhaul centres," he added
In partnership with Social Security Organisation, Ng said a career fair aimed to nurture the next generation of aviation talent had successfully facilitated the hiring of 222 jobseekers, reflecting its impactful contribution to workforce development.
"The fifth edition next year will explore new locations to better serve its audience and expand its focus to include a diverse landscape ecosystem.
"Key segments will encompass MRO, business aviation and commercial, sports aviation, search and rescue operations, drones, helicopters, space development and supporting services such as food and beverage, talent development and airport operations," he said.
