KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) kicked off the second half of 2019 with significant upgrades for the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner SUV and Toyota Innova.
The highlight model is the Hilux, where a new variant for the pickup truck, namely the Hilux 2.8 Black Edition is added to the lineup.
Introduced to replace the Hilux 2.8 L-Edition, the Hilux 2.8 Black Edition comes in a bolder appearance with black and dark grey exterior colour theme.
A glossy black finish is applied to the door handles, light housings, wing mirrors and the model’s 18-inch wheels; while dark grey is used for bumper guards and front grille.
The Hilux 2.8 Black Edition sits on top of the range with a retail price of RM139,888 in Peninsular Malaysia for private registration, without insurance.
The pickup truck now gets a new infotainment system with 6.75-inch display, containing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard inclusions.
Toyota also recommends the Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) with 3 years free subscription fee by purchasing the Toyota insurance package.
The new Hilux also adds a Rear Digital Video Recorder (DVR) to supplement the one installed at the front part of the vehicle.
In terms of safety aspects, customers of the 2019 Hilux have the option to add Advanced Safety & Security features such as the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Upgrades for the Fortuner and Innova
Similarly, the Fortuner and Innova are also updated with more features at no price bump.
The Fortuner (2.7 SRZ and 2.4 VRZ) and Innova (2.0X and 2.0G) now come with the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard features, together with a large 9-inch display as part of their infotainment systems.
Customers of both the Fortuner and Innova may opt to purchase the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) that will be installed by trained UMWT personnel.
Other safety features equipped as standard inclusions for the cars are the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
The price for the Fortuner 2.7 SRZ A/T and 2.4 VRZ A/T has not changed. However, the 2.4 A/T is now priced at RM171,500 for Peninsular Malaysia (without insurance).
The Innova is offered in three variants and is priced from RM115,280.
