CYBERJAYA: Futurise Sdn Bhd (Futurise) – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, has announced that Malaysia's first self-driving vehicle testing route has been approved.
The seven kilometre-long Cyberjaya Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) Testing Route was jointly developed by Futurise and the Ministry of Transport (MOT) under the National Regulatory Sandbox (NRS) initiative for the development of autonomous vehicles or self-driving vehicles.
In a statement today, Futurise said eMoovit Technology Sdn Bhd (eMoovit) will be the first company to use the route.
Established in 2016, eMoovit is a local startup company specialising in driverless agnostic vehicle software for urban environment routes.
The software can be used in different applications, such as first/last-mile transportation, logistics and utility solutions.
Meanwhile, those who wish to use the testing route may submit their application to Futurise, which acts as the secretariat that endorses the application together with the Autonomous Vehicle Testing Evaluation Committee, chaired by the MOT.
Committee members include the Sepang Municipal Council, Road Transport Department Malaysia, Land Public Transport Agency, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research, Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia's Automotive Development Centre. – BERNAMA
